Avalanche
Avalanche is a blockchain platform designed to support decentralized applications and custom blockchain networks. It offers high throughput and quick finality, making it suitable for various applications, including decentralized finance (DeFi) and enterprise use cases. The native coin, AVAX, is used for transactions, staking, and governance. (INVESTOPEDIA)
A Deeper Dive

Technology & Use Case
Avalanche’s architecture is unique — it includes three built-in chains (X-Chain for assets, C-Chain for smart contracts using EVM, and P-Chain for validator and subnet coordination), plus developer-defined Layer-1 chains known as subnets. Its Avalanche consensus protocol achieves rapid finality by relying on randomized sampling and repeated voting, rather than requiring all nodes to validate every transaction.
Origins & Team
Avalanche was developed by Ava Labs, co-founded by Emin Gün Sirer, Kevin Sekniqi, and Maofan “Ted” Yin, drawing on research that began in 2018 under the pseudonym “Team Rocket.” After the 2020 launch, Avalanche quickly gained support through major funding rounds and enterprise partnerships.
Ecosystem & Partnerships
Avalanche powers a growing ecosystem spanning DeFi, NFTs, gaming, and real-world asset tokenization. Institutions and developers can deploy private or public subnets tailored to compliance, performance, and governance needs. Partnerships include Visa (stablecoin settlement) and corporate integration via Amazon Web Services.
