Real world data for smart contracts
2019

Tellor Tributes
Tellor Tributes (TRB) powers a decentralized oracle network that delivers real-world data — like price feeds — to Ethereum-based smart contracts. Miners stake TRB to submit and secure this data and get rewarded. The system includes built-in checks to ensure accuracy and keeps smart contracts honest.
A Deeper Dive

Technology & Use Case
Tellor is a decentralized oracle (gathers real world data) system that connects smart contracts with trusted off-chain data. Participants (called reporters) stake TRB to submit data; if fake data is proven, they lose their stake. Users pay tips in TRB to request data, which is then validated through staking and disputes — ensuring reliability. TRB also powers governance decisions in the network.
Origins & Team
Tellor was co-founded in 2019 by Brenda Loya, Michael Zemrose, and Nick Fett. They started the project after realizing their previous startup lacked a reliable and decentralized oracle — prompting them to build Tellor instead.
Ecosystem & Partnerships
Tellor’s TRB is used for data payment, staking collateral, dispute handling, and governance. The network updates data every 5 minutes for efficient real-time use. TRB inflation is tempered by burning half the tip payment, helping manage supply growth. Ongoing developments include Tellor Layer (an upgraded oracle infrastructure).
