Phala PHA

Confidential computing and network participation.

Phala provides infrastructure for hardware-protected computation. PHA is a token used in its computing-network ecosystem.

What is Phala?

Phala uses trusted execution environments, or TEEs, to isolate programs and data while they run on computing hardware. Its network coordinates computing providers and participation incentives involving PHA. Phala’s cloud products and token-based network roles are related but distinct.

Hardware protection does not eliminate software bugs, hardware vulnerabilities, or trust assumptions. Network roles and cloud-service terms can change, and PHA can lose value.

Why people pay attention

Providers run workloads using protected hardware environments.

  • Verification

Attestation helps users check the execution environment.

  • Network participation

PHA supports provider incentives and staking arrangements.

Origins & development

Phala’s official project review dates PHA’s introduction to September 2020. Its later products expanded into confidential cloud and AI computing.
