Kaspa
Kaspa (KAS) is a lightning-fast, Bitcoin-like coin built for real-time payments. It uses a unique "blockDAG" structure that allows multiple processes to take place at once, increasing speed without sacrificing security. It launched fairly (no pre-mining or initial coin offering) and is now guided by its global developer community.
A Deeper Dive

Technology & Use Case
Kaspa replaces traditional blockchain with a blockDAG structure. This structure allows multiple blocks to be created at once, and securely orders those blocks using the GHOSTDAG consensus (a system that accurately organizes information). This architecture lets Kaspa confirm many transactions every second while staying decentralized and secure—ideal for peer-to-peer money and micropayments.
Origins & Team
Kaspa was developed by DAGLabs and led by Dr. Yonatan Sompolinsky, a cryptography expert known for co-creating the GHOSTDAG protocol. It launched through a fair distribution process, and DAGLabs later released control—making Kaspa a fully community-managed, open-source project.
Ecosystem & Partnerships
Kaspa’s architecture—featuring instant block creation, fast finality, and deflationary mining (the number of new coins created gets smaller and smaller on a set schedule) is built for real-world use and ready for mass-market applications. Developers are already building tools, wallets, and Layer-2 extensions. With negligible latency and predictable cost, Kaspa is positioned to be “digital cash at internet speed.”
